What Does Erioloba Mean?
The name Erioloba comes from the Acacia erioloba, also known as the Camel Thorn Tree (Kameeldoring). This protected, slow-growing tree thrives in South Africa’s harshest environments — especially in the Northern Cape — and symbolizes resilience, strength, and harmony with the land.
Much like the Camel Thorn, Erioloba Consulting provides structure and integration. We act as an umbrella consultancy, bringing together expertise across environmental planning, engineering, legal frameworks, housing, infrastructure, and more.
Our deep connection to the Northern Cape — especially Kathu, where Camel Thorns are iconic — reflects our commitment to meaningful, place-based development.

Dr. Ernst has been serving as Director for 19 years, he brings deep expertise in urban planning, policy development, and project execution. He has over 35+ years of experience as a Urban and Regional planner.
